Our story:

Piece of Paradise is an organic, whole grains online dessert shop but we didn’t always start off creating healthier desserts. In 2014, our founder, Brittany Hollie, decided to share her beloved desserts with other people beyond her family and friends. Initially selling cupcakes, cookies and pies she decided to venture away from the latest trends.

Reminiscing back to her childhood when she delighted in baking brownies and cookie bars with her mother using recipes from her great grandmother’s cookbooks, she decided to change her specialties to gourmet brownies and cookie bars. She also wants to share her homemade candy with all of you as well. In dealing with various health issues she began to research ways to change her diet so that she may find some kind of relief from her symptoms. She realized just how important it is to eat organic, natural ingredients that have been minimally processed.

Eating desserts with minimally processed ingredients retain their essential vitamins and minerals needed by the body in order to process the foods effectively. On a mission to feed her body well she knew that it was a must to provide her customers with the same organic ingredients that she believes in! So go ahead and don’t be afraid to give your toddler a Salted Caramel Pecan Pie Bar or bring Praline Butternut Squash Bars to the family Christmas party. We want your family to eat the same quality foods as our family, and who knows, you may consider us a part of your family! As we continue to evolve and research we will always make sure that we stay true to ourselves and your body by using the best natural ingredients.

Why whole wheat and organic?

Doctors aren’t telling you to eat more whole grains as a punishment. Whole wheat is filled with many vitamins and minerals such as: fiber, folate, riboflavin, manganese, copper, magnesium, vitamins B-1, B-3, and B-5 and other minerals. Whole wheat also has a low glycemic index which means that foods made with whole wheat absorb slowly to prevent blood sugar spikes and crashes.

We use organic evaporated cane juice because it is minimally processed and retains a lot more of its vitamins and minerals compared to its close cousin, refined sugar. It is not processed in a facility that uses bone char to whiten the sugar and because it’s organic it does not contain chemical fertilizers and pesticides.

The vitamins and minerals found in the whole wheat efficiently aid the digestion of the organic evaporated cane juice and other ingredients the way nature intended.  All of the other ingredients used in our products are all natural and organic.

About our founder:

Brittany Hollie currently resides in Houston, Texas where she studied Hotel and Restaurant Management at the University of Houston’s Conrad N. Hilton College. (Go Coogs!) Her first experiences in the kitchen with her parents started when she was knee high to a grasshopper. Constantly developing recipes she always knew that she wanted to create some kind of food-related business.

Suffering for nearly 7 years from unknown health issues she wasn’t quite sure when or how she could make her mark in this world. Finally after recently being diagnosed with Fibromyalgia, Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, and POTS and finally meeting a doctor who can help her manage symptoms, she decided to take a leap of faith and go forth. She wants to inspire other people with health disabilities to persevere and see their dreams through. Life is about creating the best hand you can make in this card game, it’s not about fretting over the badly dealt hand.

She is the head baker, recipe developer, packager and marketer for our company. When she’s not baking you will probably catch her cooking on SnapChat, watching Food Network & HGTV, reading, playing with her fur baby named Nugget, and scheming up her next plan of action! Feel free to contact her on social media (@Merci_Britte)  or email for large orders, fundraisers, or to chat about life and living with chronic disorders.
